Counseling Services
The counselor's services are for all children in the Rolla School District. Our goals are to help children, parents, and teachers build on their strengths to ensure the healthy mental development and happiness of the child. It is important to remember that the counselor does not only see problems. The concern of the counselor is in the prevention of obstacles that interfere with learning.

Talks with children, parents, and teachers concerning student needs.
Assists with the district testing programs and interprets the results to students, parents, and teachers.
Assists in obtaining services outside the school.
Visits classrooms conducting counseling activities to further enhance the overall development of the child. In this way, she maintains personal contact with each student.

I have been in public education for 19 years. Serving 17 of those years as an elementary art teacher and two as a school counselor. I believe that art can be very therapeutic so I love the blending of those two worlds. I am married to Damon Spurgeon (today at least) and we have three kids Jd, Rhett, and Tate.
